Frequently asked questions
What TransformerPath is, what's free, what the plans include, and how the tools and data are maintained.
What is TransformerPath?
TransformerPath is the transformer industry platform — daily market intelligence, a worldwide manufacturer & supplier directory, an electrical-grid census, a transformer/electrical events & event directory, and hands-on engineering tools (the IEC 60076 design calculator, rating-plate and test-report generators).
Is it free?
Yes — the core is free forever: Daily Intel, the basic manufacturer & supplier directories, events, events, grids, industry news, knowledge articles, job browsing, RFQ submission and a selection of engineering calculators and book excerpts.
What do the plans cost?
Learning $199, Engineering Pro $599 and Engineering Team $1,999 — each a single payment for 12 months of access, with no auto-renewal. Checkout is on the pricing page.
What does the design calculator do?
A live analytical (first-pass) IEC 60076 transformer design calculator for distribution, power and cast-resin modes: rating plate, core & winding sizing, turns, conductors, losses & efficiency, leakage reactance, a short-circuit thermal screening reference (analytical, per-winding under stated assumptions — NOT a verified or standalone design check), impulse / BIL levels, a to-scale cross-section drawing, and a downloadable PDF design report plus a BOM (Excel). Free preview: run designs on-screen and download one watermarked PDF per browser; Yearly Access unlocks unlimited clean exports. Results are first-cut/tender-grade; check against the current published standard before reliance.
Do I get the books?
The TransformerPath Professional Engineering Series (V1, V2) is sold separately — digital Professional Edition and a Premium printed edition — and can be bundled with a membership. Book chapters link to the Academy lessons and the interactive 3D models.
How is the manufacturer & supplier data sourced and structured?
TransformerPath maintains a strict 4-tier supplier state architecture:
- Listed — Baseline public-source profile created by TransformerPath from manufacturer documentation, official filings, and utility registries.
- Claimed — Authorized company representative has taken control/ownership of the profile to manage factual listings.
- Verified — Company identity, registration, and published contact/profile details have passed TransformerPath verification.
- Supplier Pro — Paid commercial functionality (RFQ management, priority matching, digital catalogue distribution, market analytics). Supplier Pro is a commercial tier, not a higher technical verification level.
Verification does NOT mean: product certification, factory approval, financial verification, utility approval, quality guarantee, technical endorsement, or a TransformerPath recommendation.
How fresh is Daily Intel?
Daily Intel uses three independent clocks: latest sourced item (content date on the source), source checked (when portals/feeds were last probed), and page built (when this HTML was regenerated). Public status follows the latest sourced item — never a desk rebuild alone. An item no more than one day old reads UPDATED with that date, or Updated today when the item is from today. Older items keep the age labels: DATA CURRENT, REFRESH DELAYED, INTEL COVERAGE DELAYED, or DATA STALE. GCC coverage is a separate line on GCC market pages and does not set this status. Page build time is never the Intel freshness claim.
Do I need an account?
Not to browse — the core is free without signing in. An account lets engineers keep saved designs, bookmarks, notes and follows in one workspace across devices. The account layer is in beta: sign up from your workspace to try it.
How do I subscribe or pay?
Via the Learning, Engineering Pro, and Engineering Team buttons on the pricing page (Stripe checkout).
Do you issue a certificate of completion?
No — TransformerPath is not an accreditation body; it issues course completion records for its learning tracks. These are not accredited qualifications, professional certifications, licences, or authorisations to practise engineering. Each completion record carries a unique verification page. Capstones are not personally reviewed.
Can my company be listed as a supplier?
Yes. All manufacturers begin as Listed profiles. Company representatives can claim their profile, complete Verified identity status, or upgrade to Supplier Pro for commercial capabilities including RFQ management, digital catalogue distribution, and market analytics.
Which standards do you use?
Engineering content and tools follow IEC 60076 (and IEEE/ANSI C57 where relevant). Methodology, assumptions and limitations are documented on each calculator; results are a first-cut/tender-grade design, not a final factory production design.
How do you source intelligence?
Primary utility / tender-board / regulator filings first, then stock filings, then corroborated trade press. Discovery of a GCC portal candidate is not the same as publishing an Intel card — graded finds stay in review until evidence meets the publish gate. Full detail: Methodology — how we source.
What is your refund policy?
Plans are single payments with no auto-renewal. Request a refund within 14 days of purchase if learning material was not substantially accessed — see Terms — Refunds or email hello@transformerpath.com. CTAs also live on About and Pricing.
Are lookalike “transformer path” sites affiliated?
No. TransformerPath publishes independent industry intelligence at transformerpath.com. Lookalike domains and unrelated consumer “transformer path” sites are not affiliated with this platform.
