What is the difference between IEC and IEEE transformer standards?

Coverage

IEC 60076 is the global power-transformer series; IEEE C57 (and ANSI/NEMA) is the North American equivalent. Both cover ratings, design and testing but with different defaults.

Key differences

IEEE uses 60 Hz as the base, defines temperature rise at 65 C (and 55/65 C options), with its own BIL and test levels; IEC uses 50 Hz commonly and its own temperature-rise and insulation classes. Vector groups, impedance tolerances and cooling codes also differ.

What to do
