What tests does a transformer standard require?

Routine tests

Run on every unit: ratio, winding resistance, no-load and load loss, impedance, insulation (IR and power factor), applied and induced voltage, and the oil tests.

Type tests

Run on a design: temperature-rise, lightning-impulse, switching-impulse and short-circuit-withstand tests.

Special tests

Run by agreement: sound level, zero-sequence, harmonics, DGA-specific and others, as the customer and the application require.
