Frequently asked

What is the difference between pressboard and transformerboard?

Transformerboard is the general term for electrical insulation board made of pure kraft pulp; pressboard is a higher-density, highly compressed, calendered form used for barriers and structural insulation.

What is diamond dotted paper (DDP)?

A thin kraft paper coated with a thermosetting resin applied in a diamond pattern and partially cured; it bonds layers on heating and is used for interlayer/interturn insulation.

How are insulation materials graded?

By density, thickness and finish, chosen for the dielectric stress and mechanical duty, and they must be compatible with the insulating fluid and contaminant-free.
