How Is Transformer Oil Sampled Correctly?
Quick answer — A correct oil sample is taken from a clean, dry, sample valve after flushing, into a clean, dry, appropriate container (or gas-tight syringe for DGA), without letting moisture or air in, and at a representative operating condition. Label and ship
Label the sample with the unit and date, and send it promptly to the lab, since gas can escape or the oil can age if it sits.
