Why Are Transformer Lead Times So Long?
Quick answer — Transformer lead times have extended because demand from grid hardening, renewables, data centres and the energy transition outpaces OEM capacity, and because key materials — grain-oriented electrical steel, large copper, pressboard/insulation and bushings — are themselves in short supply.
